2008: Started eight regular season games and West Semi-Final at defensive end…missed 10 regular season games due to injury…had four defensive tackles, a quarterback sack and a forced fumble in week 1…had a defensive tackle, a quarterback sack and a forced fumble in week 17…had four defensive tackles and a fumble recovery in West Semi-Final…finished the regular season with 13 defensive tackles, three quarterback sacks and two forced fumbles.
2007: Started 13 regular season games at defensive end…also started both playoff games and Grey Cup game…spent five weeks on the Riders four-man reserve list…made Rider and CFL debut in week 2…recorded first CFL quarterback sack in week 2…had a 70 yard fumble return for a touchdown in week 17…had three defensive tackles and two quarterback sacks in West Final…had three defensive tackles, a forced fumble and a quarterback sack in Grey Cup game…finished season with 23 defensive tackles, five quarterback sacks and a fumble recovery for a touchdown…Rider nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie.
2006: Attended training camp with Houston Texans.
COLLEGE: Was a four year starter at Utah State and in 2002 became the first USU freshman to start a season at defensive end in nine years…ranked fifth in the NCAA with 12.5 quarterback sacks in his senior season…spent three years at defensive end after playing at linebacker as a junior…was a first-team all-Western Athletic Conference defensive end in his senior year…finished his Aggie career with 163 tackles, with 39 for a loss, including 23.5 quarterback sacks.
PERSONAL: John, his wife Catherine, children Camryn and Robert spent the off-season in Regina…John worked for Employment Network Canada Inc. as a recruiter/marketer….he also traveled around the province as a presenter in the Community Youth Challenge Program…John is an ambassador and a spokesperson for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation & medtronics…he spends his free time with his family, teammates, and enjoys playing basketball to keep his competitive edge.
