From Quincy:

hey john i was wondering what was it like it like to win a grey cup? I hope that someday i can hoist that cup above my head wearing greed and white any way great job this year and go riders

hey john just wondering do you think richie hall will go to winnepeg to be their head coach ,thers been a little talk about this around theleage. hpoe fully he doesnt go. p.s happy holidys to you and your family

Winning the Grey Cup was the best football experience of my life and one of the top overall experiences I can remember. It falls just short of marriage, kids, family, love, and some spiritual experiences that I'm sure you can relate to. In fact it is usually only those kinds of things that you put all of your time and commitment into, blood, sweat, tears, pain, passion, etc and reap the benefits. When you get to see something pay off like winning the Grey Cup there aren't words for that type of exhileration. Football is my career and it is something that I've put my whole life into but, I'm not the only one whos committed my life to it, my entire family has had to make sacrifices along the way and not just little ones. So when you win something like the Grey Cup it's not just myself that gets the reward, but every single person who has supported me from the day I started playing football is a part of that.

In answer to your second question in reguards to Richie, I appologise for not responding sooner. I'm sure that you know by now Richie has gone on to coach at Edmonton. That will be a great loss for all of us in Saskatchewan. He has been an amazing coach and is a great person to have in the community. He has been here for many years and will be very missed. All I can say is that I wish him the best except for when Edmonton is playing Saskatchewan.

Thanks for visiting the site and for your questions and comment!

From Jesse:

Hey John just wondering what your workout sched is like during the offseason, I know you said you take some time off, but when you get back into it how many hours a day/week. Also are you very strict with your diet or do you cheat sometimes? Do you train with any of the other guys? Thanks Jesse in Saskatoon

Jesse,

I would say that 90% of the time I am very strict with my diet. I really think that what goes into my body is very important and is directly related to what I get out of my body. However, like this holiday season there are times in which I'm a little less strict. My workout schedule varies. I like to work out with several of the guys that stick around or the one's that come back and forth, sometimes it helps with motivation. When it really gets going we workout at level 10 fitness under an instructor 2-3 times per week. Then, I spend at least 1-2 days a week training at IPSCO, the indoor soccer field, usually with some other guys, working on speed training, position specific drills, agilities, or conditioning depending on the week. I also try to play basketball once or twice a week to keep my competitive edge, condition myself, and work on me feet. Then, any other lifting I do is either at the University, Mosaic, or my house.

This routine is varied and takes 5-6 days a week. The time, including warm up and stretching a day, is never less that 1.5 hrs a day and usually more like 3 or more hours a day. Not always at one time.

Thanks for your questions!

From Adri:

how long have you had diabetes and when did you start using the insulin pump? has the insulin pump given you any problems?

Adri,

I have had Type 1 diabetes for 12 years. I was diagnosed when I was 14 and started using the pump in 2003 when I was 20 years old. I can't say that I have had any problems with the pump and have to say that it is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. It's not a cure you have to remember. But, using the pump has helped me to have great control over my diabetes and has helped me to reach all of my goals.

Thanks for visiting and hope that you look more into the pump
