Hello, Rider Fans
WOW! Not many other words can describe what this season has come down to better than WOW! This is what many professional athletes live for. The opportunity to prove yourself, your desire, your might, your ability, your strength, your want to. We know that we get a play-off game, a home game at that, but that’s not good enough anymore. The Riders have been trying to make a statement for the past few seasons. A statement that we can not only just compete or give a team a run for their money, but that we are the team to beat and you’re going to have absolutely have to play your best to have a chance to do that. We have an opportunity today to do what this team hasn’t done in 33yrs and set a standard for Saskatchewan football. That this is a football province where only the best play and we expect to win, to win often, and to win championships! Despite what few might think, home field advantage with a buy is the best recipe for a Grey Cup Championship! This is our goal and has been from the start. We believe that regardless of what happens we have the team to win a Grey Cup and were going to go down fighting in trying to achieve that dream.
I just ask for everybody that’s watching whether at the game or not that you try to enjoy yourself and really try to capture the moment. This is the start of the playoffs for both the Riders and the Stamps. Both teams desperately want to win this game and it should be quite a show. My faith is in the Riders and I expect a lot of magic out there. My heart has been up in my throat since Sunday and I probably won’t get my first sense of calmness until after the first hit of today’s game, after that, look out Stamps. It’s time to go to work on another Championship, Go Riders!
I also just wanted to briefly mention what a privilege it is to have been nominated the most outstanding defensive player for the Riders. This is most definitely an award that could have been given to any one of several defensive players for the riders. That is what makes this team and this experience so awesome knowing that you have 12 guys on every single play that are like hungry dogs. We cannot wait for our opportunity to contribute to stopping the guy with the ball and getting the ball back in our offenses hands. Everybody on this defence and this team has had the opportunity to stand out individually, but more importantly we have stood out all season long as a group and this is why I know we have great possibilities ahead of us a chance at a Grey Cup Championship. It is an honour to be recognized, and I want to thank everybody for their support and their belief in me and more importantly for your commitment, support, and belief in the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Let’s go get a bye and a great start for the Play-offs!
Thank You and God Bless!
John Chick
